Benefits of Marine Wraps

Complete Aesthetic Customization

Vinyl wraps offer limitless design possibilities that paint simply cannot match. From intricate textures like brushed metal to high-resolution branding and custom colours, you can fully personalize your vessel. If you change your mind or decide to sell, the vinyl is completely removable.

Superior Hull Protection

Our marine-grade vinyl acts as a secondary skin, shielding your boat from UV rays, minor abrasions, and salt oxidation. This protective barrier prevents the common “chalking” effect seen on older hulls. By preserving the pristine condition of the underlying surface, a wrap significantly sustains your boat’s long-term resale value.

Cost & Time Efficiency

Traditional marine painting is a labour-intensive, weeks-long process that keeps your boat out of the water. In contrast, a professional vinyl wrap can often be completed in just a few days. It is a fraction of the cost of a high-end paint job, getting you back on the waves faster.

Our Professional Installation Process

At Wrapped by URO, we follow a rigorous multi-step process to ensure your marine wrap withstands high speeds and rough waters.

  1. Deep Surface Decontamination: We remove all algae, salt, and wax using specialized marine cleaners and isopropyl alcohol to ensure a perfect adhesive bond.
  2. Hardware Preparation: Items like rub rails, emblems, and thru-hull fittings are bypassed or temporarily removed for a seamless, “factory” look.
  3. Precision Application: Using heat-conformable marine vinyl, our installers meticulously squeegee the material onto the hull, eliminating air bubbles and ensuring edge-to-edge coverage.
  4. Edge Sealing: We apply specialized edge-sealing tape or liquid sealants along the waterline and bow to prevent lifting or water intrusion.
  5. Final Inspection: A high-heat post-curing process sets the vinyl’s “memory,” followed by a rigorous quality check before your boat is cleared for launch.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a boat wrap actually last?

A professionally installed marine wrap typically lasts 5 to 7 years. We use high-performance, UV-stable vinyl specifically engineered for the marine environment. To maximize lifespan, we recommend rinsing with fresh water after use and using a protective ceramic spray or marine-safe wax designed for vinyl.

Can the wrap go below the waterline?

Yes, but with specific precautions. While vinyl performs excellently on the hull, we apply a liquid edge sealer or specialized marine sealing tape to all “critical” edges. This prevents water pressure from lifting the vinyl while the boat is in motion or docked for extended periods.

Is vinyl a good alternative to marine paint?

Absolutely. A wrap is generally 1/3 to 1/2 the cost of a professional marine paint job and takes days rather than weeks to complete. Plus, unlike paint, vinyl is reversible. If you decide to sell the boat or update your branding, the vinyl can be removed to reveal the original gelcoat.

How do I clean and maintain my wrapped boat?

Maintenance is simpler than polished gelcoat. Avoid high-pressure washers and abrasive brushes, which can tear the edges. Instead, use a soft cloth or sponge with a pH-neutral marine soap. For stubborn salt spray, a gentle vinegar-water solution works wonders without damaging the finish.

Does my boat need to be out of the water for installation?

Yes. For a successful bond, the hull must be completely dry and at a controlled temperature. We perform installations in our climate-controlled shop. The boat needs to stay out of the water for approximately 24 hours after the install to allow the adhesive to fully cure.
